boot errors

Stephan Böni
I've compiled the 3.0-devel version on SUSE Linux 9.3. The ony problem is the qla2300 driver, which will not start all correctly on boot. So i cannot see other partitions than sda.

The driver probably has some assumption/bug that it gets away with on native but fails under Xen.

It's worth comparing the output against a native 2.6.12 boot to find the point where the messages from the driver diverge, and then start working backwards to see what's going on. A common problem is the driver making assumptions that memory pages will be machine contiguous when they shouldn't. You could use a debug=y build of Xen to try and provoke this failure more dramatically.

BTW: what make/model of machine does this HBA come with?

Hi Stephan,

This is a base 2.6.12 bug. It was fixed in 2.6.12.2.

Regards,

Brian
